Speaker hopeful of lasting peace in Tirap
ITANAGAR, June 4: Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Wanglin Lowangdong was hopeful that peace and happier days would return to Tirap district. He was addressing the public at Borduria about 10 km from Khonsa after the inauguration of a primary health Centre at Borduria village today.
The Speaker admitted that the district was passing through a difficult phase but
added that at the end of the dark tunnel there is light. He emphatically said that
what Tirap needed the most was a lasting peace as nothing worth-
He said that Arunachal Pradesh being a young state, has innumerable challenges and
obstacles to surmount adding that with a clear roadmap for development from the elected
leaders and active participation of all the stake holders, the state would soon

ITANAGAR, June 4: All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) has appealed to the state Govt, particularly education department to release the mark sheets of the students so that they could apply for further study in universities outside the state in time.
May reputed universities like Delhi university and universities of South India had announced admission schedule with last date for admission for successful students of class X and class XII examinations from June 8 to 10, AAPSU general secretary Tujum Poyom said and regretted that many students of the state are passing through traumatic situation as they failed to obtain original mark sheet yet for admission purposes.
The AAPSU leader also requested the education department to check the credentials
of the agents (consultancy service providers for higher education) before they lure
the students with their attractive advertisement. Poyom further said that formal
certificate to genuine agents should be issued as consultants so that students

Nyishi legislators urge Govt to address Thakur issue
ITANAGAR, June 4: In an effort to resolve the issues between All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU) / Nyishi Elite Society and Pradeep Thakur of Time of India in connection with the alleged derogatory remarks on Nyishis, a delegation of Nyishi legislators led by Atum Welly, Heath and Family Welfare and Rural Works Minister met the Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin and apprised him of the sentiment of the entire Nyishi communit yesterday. The delegation impressed upon the chief minister to intervene in the case and take all possible measures to address the issue. This was informed by Welly, the convener of the Nyishi Legislator Forum in a statement.
Welly further said that the Chief Minister informed the delegation that the police department had taken prompt action in pursuing the case. The CM assured that Govt will issue a status paper on the matter within a day.
Governor to participate in World Environment Day prog.
ITANAGAR, June 4: Raj Bhavan will tomorrow join the rest of the world to observe the World Environment Day.
Arunachal Pradesh Governor Gen JJ Singh along with school children, members of Muskan Welfare Society, officials of Environment and Forest and Raj Bhavan will be taking part in the plantation programme.
In his effort to maintain the vast green cover and also to make Arunachal Pradesh a plastic free state, the Governor has been participating in numbers of eco friendly programmes in the past.

In 2009, Governor took part in the plantation at Raj Bhavan complex organized by Muskan society in collaboration with department of Environment and Forests, as a part of State wide programme. Inspite of heavy shower, a large number of students from different schools of capital complex, including children from Donyi Polo School for Hearing impaired, Chimpu and Collegians from Don Bosco College, Julli led by the Governor and State First Lady took part in the programme. The then Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner Padmini Singla, SP Hibu Tamang, Chief Conservator of Forest T. Millang and other senior officers of Forest department, members of Muskan Society and Raj Bhavan officials also actively took part in it.
The Plantation programme, where more than thousands saplings were planted at Raj Bhavan complex is an endeavour of the Muskan Society members led by State First Lady Anupama Singh to instill love for the nature amongst the children at tender age and also to create awareness on climate changes, greenhouse gas effects and other environment related issues.
Large numbers of saplings, including Teeta Champa and Hollong which are found in the foothills to middle belt of Arunachal Pradesh to Hollok trees of Tirap, Changlang and Lohit areas were planted on the day. Rudrask, timber valued trees like Bogi Poma, Lali Poma and Jamun, medicinal trees like Arjun and Camper, multiple uses trees like Kanchan and flowering ones like Gulmohar in addition to much valued species like Azar were also planted by the participants in the Raj Bhavan Complex which are being well maintained by the concerned department. Today, it has become a demonstration area featuring all economical viable and important trees of Arunachal Pradesh.

BAF to conduct grass root level tour
ITANAGAR, June 4: Bogum Ao Foundation (BAF), Itanagar in its executive body meeting held here today resolved to conduct grass root level awareness tour to improve the education scenario and promote national integration and brotherhood amongst the various tribes of the state.
It further resolved to felicitate the meritorious students belonging to Bogum clans who secured more than 70 per cent in aggregate marks in the last CBSE examination of Class X and Class XII as a token of appreciation and encouragement.
